Hi there! My name is Detra. Since being a star athlete in high school and college, I have been passionate about health and wellness. Once I graduated from college, I continued to work out and found myself wanting to help others do the same. My life changed once I graduated college. I got a job; eventually, I got married and had children, then divorce was an unexpected obstacle in my life. If that wasn’t challenging enough, I had a stroke.
It was challenging to say the least, but I made a conscious decision to be healthy. I started by making small changes, swapping bad things for good things. As I continued on my journey, I found a deeper love and appreciation for myself. I started my Keto diet and lost 20 pounds of baby weight. I was amazed because I had tried other diets, and they didn’t really work well. I enjoyed Keto because my mind was clearer and more focused than ever before. I felt amazing! Living Keto catapulted me into thinking of myself first, which was a total change from putting everyone else first and putting myself last. I am a better woman today because of it! I know if I can do Keto, you can too!
God reignited my passion for helping people feel better as I started rebuilding my life after the divorce. What is meant for you will always be for you. It was a blessing for me because I am better equipped to help people because of the challenges in my life. My wellness journey continues to evolve as life goes on.
Why SweatBoxx? Originally I thought about my college gym at Alabama State University. We had some of the physical parts of our health education classes there. It was an older building with no A/C, so it was deemed the ‘Sweat Box.’ I couldn’t get the actual name I was looking for, so I had to be creative and add “x” at the end of the Box. Since 2003, the name has stuck for me!
Why Wellness by SweatBoxx?
As I walk on my journey in life, I discovered there’s more to health than just working out and eating well. I wanted to expand my brand by embracing the wellness aspect by adding mental, spiritual, and emotional health to enhance the physical aspect that most people focus on. What you eat doesn’t fix why you eat; to fix this, you have to focus on more than just the physical.
Over the years, I’ve learned a lot, and I want to provide information, tools, tips, and techniques to help others improve their quality of life. My niche is helping people succeed with Keto and low-carb diets by replacing old habits with healthier habits. My method is to organize life so that it works for you. I will help you do more than get your macros and a meal plan. I want to help someone improve or change the way they think, look and feel about their health, and their life for the better and to succeed at it!
I hope that something I share will help you Live Better!
